Dear parents,
When I reflect on the 30 years that passed by since aquaDucks’ launch in 1989, my memory is flooded with happy children that are learning to swim. With the main focus on water safety – they build confidence and strength while having fun. I am thankful for my awesome profession which is a true passion and brings me so much joy. I am proud of aquaDucks’ extensive growth and to have taught together with my bubbly team of swim coaches, thousands of children how to swim and to be safe in the water.
As a father of four and grandfather of two (with one more on the way), I know how important it is to do the best we can for our children. We constantly need to nurture their needs and ensure they develop themselves to their fullest potential. It is a responsibility that requires us to have lots of patience, knowledge and unconditional love. These values form part of the foundation on which our swim school stands.
Although knowing how to swim has many benefits and is very important to enhance water safety, it never guarantees your child’s safety. Therefore, I would like to share with you ONE crucial tip that will prevent your children from drowning in an aquatic environment (even the bathtub).
KEEP YOUR EYES ON YOUR CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES and by doing so YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE SAFE AT ALL TIMES ( we call it SUPERVISION).
This is a simple message that may seem too simple. However, if we as caregivers and parents diligently stick to it, immediate action can be taken to prevent our children from drowning.
Extra tips:
- Boost your child’s health and safety by visiting the pool regularly (2-3 times per week). This allows your child to be free and play in the water, boost breath control and at the same time stimulate health and safety benefits.
- Qualify yourself (parent or caregiver) in first aid and CPR
- Let your child play and have fun, but always stay within one arm length reach from your child so you can take quick action if needed.
The unique aquaDucks’ swimming programme is a combination of Australian, American and European swimming techniques that are further tailored and streamlined to maximise safety and to suit the specific lifestyle needs in tropical Singapore.
Dive into the fun – supervise your children at all times!
